Hydrometeorological Hazards on Crop Production in the State of Veracruz, Mexico

Hydrometeorological hazards are considered the most important phenomena affecting crop production in Eastern regions of Mexico, where State Veracruz is located. However, more information about their consequences on these sites needs to be studied. This research aims determine effects hydrometeorological crops cultivated Veracruz. The methodology involved analyzing State’s database from 2001 2020 and comparing this data with National Disaster Declarations database. Multivariable correlation analysis geographic systems were applied geographically analyze 42 rainfed plus five valuable ones related climatic phenomena. results found that affected corn, soy, sorghum, beans, rice, than 10,000 lost hectares. Droughts caused total damage beans decreased productivity orange, lemon, wheat, coffee, sesame. For crops, tropical cyclones highest decrements sugar cane, pineapple, while droughts same lemon orange. We conclude critical negatively impacting Veracruz, high implications agrifood system.
